Business profile

Updated

Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings is a North American freight transportation company. It moves goods for businesses using its own trucks and trailers, independent contractors, third-party carriers and rail providers. Its customers are typically large corporations in industries such as retail, food and beverage, consumer products, automotive and manufacturing.

The company has four main businesses: Truckload, less-than-truckload (LTL), Logistics and Intermodal. Truckload generally carries a full trailer for one customer. LTL combines smaller shipments from several customers and moves them through a network of service centers, where freight can be transferred between trailers. Logistics arranges transportation by matching customers’ shipments with capacity from outside carriers. Intermodal combines rail transportation with truck trips between rail terminals and customer locations.
