Questions
Where does the data come from?
From licensed market-data providers, standardised from the companies’ SEC filings into one set of line items, so a line means the same thing for every company. It is imported every weekday evening and checked every night against the accounting identities a statement must satisfy.
Is it really free?
Yes. A free account — no card — gets 3 exports a month, one statement per file, with the periods you see on the page.
Which companies are covered?
US-listed common stocks, American depositary receipts and limited partnerships: every company on Nasdaq, the NYSE and NYSE American, and those that later moved over the counter.
Annual or quarterly?
Both. Everyone reads 10 years of annual statements; a free account exports them, or its last 12 quarters. Powerpack exports the full quarterly and trailing-twelve-month history, every statement in one workbook.
Can I use it in Google Sheets?
Yes: open the .xlsx in Google Sheets, or pull the figures in live with the recipes on stockrow.com/api/docs/spreadsheets.
What is the file layout?
One row per line item and one column per period, the newest first. Column A is the line’s code, B its name, C its unit; numbers are numbers — dollars as raw figures, percentages as fractions — and a missing value is an empty cell. The layout does not change, so a model built on it keeps working.
