Business profile

Updated

Nucor Corporation is a steel and steel-products manufacturer founded in 1955 and headquartered in Charlotte. Leon Topalian is Chair, President and Chief Executive Officer. It makes steel from recycled scrap, principally using electric arc furnaces, then sells that steel and turns it into construction and industrial products.

Its three operating segments are steel mills, steel products and raw materials. Steel mills make sheet, plate, structural and bar steel. Steel products range from joists, decking, tubing, rebar fabrication and metal buildings to insulated panels, warehouse and data-center racking, overhead doors, utility structures and piling. Raw materials operations process and broker scrap, make direct reduced iron, produce natural gas and operate industrial-gas plants.
