Business profile

Updated

Novanta supplies components and subsystems to original equipment manufacturers, or OEMs: companies that incorporate those parts into machines and devices sold to their own customers. Its customers operate in medical, life science and advanced industrial markets. Matthijs Glastra is its chair and chief executive officer.

Its technologies perform tasks that require precise control of light, movement or fluids. For example, its laser-scanning equipment directs beams for manufacturing and medical applications. Its motion products include sensors, motors and controls used in equipment such as surgical robots and laboratory instruments. It also makes accessories that attach to the end of a robot arm, including tool changers and sensors.

Total pay is as the Summary Compensation Table states it; actually paid revalues the year’s share awards at its end, as the SEC’s pay-versus-performance rule asks. $100 invested is what $100 in the company’s shares at the start of the earliest year shown was worth at each year’s end. Ownership is the proxy’s own table: the directors and officers as a group, and every holder of 5% or more. Read the proxy statement
