Business profile

Updated

Jazz Pharmaceuticals is a biopharmaceutical company focused on medicines for rare diseases, including sleep disorders, epilepsy and cancer. Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Ireland, it is led by President and Chief Executive Officer Renee D. Gala.

Its sleep medicines include Xywav, prescribed for certain symptoms of narcolepsy and for adults with idiopathic hypersomnia, a disorder involving excessive daytime sleepiness. Xyrem is another medicine for narcolepsy. Both are shipped directly to patients or caregivers by a certified specialty pharmacy rather than stocked in retail pharmacies.
