Business profile

Updated

Antero Resources develops and produces natural gas, natural gas liquids (NGLs) and oil from shale formations in the Appalachian Basin. It sells these commodities into markets in the United States and abroad. Its operations are concentrated in West Virginia and Ohio, and its headquarters is in Denver. The company is led by CEO and President Michael Kennedy.

Antero uses horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing to release hydrocarbons from unconventional formations. Some wells produce liquids-rich gas: the gas is processed to separate NGLs, which can be sold as individual products such as ethane and propane. Antero also produces dry gas, which contains fewer liquids. Its productive wells were all natural gas wells at the end of the fiscal year.

  • CEO Michael Kennedy said Antero is expanding its transportation optimization strategy as customers seek local gas supply, with agreements already generating annualized free cash flow.
  • CFO Brendan Krueger attributed production growth to the HG acquisition and higher working interests, while lower costs and liquids exposure increased the unhedged EBITDAX margin.

Total pay is as the Summary Compensation Table states it; actually paid revalues the year’s share awards at its end, as the SEC’s pay-versus-performance rule asks. $100 invested is what $100 in the company’s shares at the start of the earliest year shown was worth at each year’s end. Ownership is the proxy’s own table: the directors and officers as a group, and every holder of 5% or more. Read the proxy statement
