SL Science Holding Limited announced new preclinical data evaluating unmodified human γδ T cells in glioblastoma (GBM) via its γδ T cell (GDT) platform. Data were presented as poster P-2017 at the 85th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Cancer Association (Sept. 24–26, 2026) in Tokyo, in collaboration with Taipei Medical University, JY BioMed and HeXun Biosciences. The findings show γδ T cells preferentially kill MGMT-positive GBM cells—the chemo-resistant population that drives recurrence—across three cell lines (U87MG, T98G, LN229) with a dose-dependent response; γδ T cells also demonstrated higher cancer-killing activity than conventional αβ T cells in direct comparisons. In an intracranial GBM model, treatment reduced tumor size and prolonged survival without obvious tolerability issues. These preclinical results aim to identify which patients and tumor types may benefit, marking a defined third milestone in SL Science’s development pathway. Preclinical data show activity against MGMT-positive GBM, but no clinical efficacy yet, suggesting only moderate near-term impact.
