Business profile

Updated

Align Technology designs, manufactures and markets products used by dental professionals to straighten teeth and plan dental treatment. Founded in 1997, the company is headquartered in Tempe, Arizona. Joseph M. Hogan is president and chief executive officer; Align has appointed Jennifer Davis to succeed him as president and CEO on December 31, 2026.

Its Invisalign system uses a series of removable, custom-made clear aligners to move teeth. An orthodontist or general dentist prescribes treatment, submits a scan or impression, and reviews and approves a digital plan. Align then manufactures the aligners and typically ships them to the doctor, who provides them to the patient. The company also sells Vivera retainers to help maintain tooth position after treatment.

Total pay is as the Summary Compensation Table states it; actually paid revalues the year’s share awards at its end, as the SEC’s pay-versus-performance rule asks. $100 invested is what $100 in the company’s shares at the start of the earliest year shown was worth at each year’s end. Ownership is the proxy’s own table: the directors and officers as a group, and every holder of 5% or more. Read the proxy statement
