Latest quarter
Align Technology reported Q3 FY2026 revenue of $1.0 billion, above the consensus by 1.21%. Its adjusted earnings per share were $2.80, compared with the consensus estimate of $2.76.
Align’s filing said Clear Aligner revenue rose 4.2% from a year earlier as higher case volume outweighed the effects of a shift toward lower-priced countries and products and unfavorable foreign exchange. Imaging Systems and CAD/CAM services revenue fell 7.6%, which the filing attributed principally to the mix of lower-priced products, currency movements and lower scanner wand sales.
The company reported gross margin of 68.7%, up from 64.2% a year earlier, and operating margin of 16.7%, up from 9.67%. Both margins came in above Align’s own guidance for the quarter. CFO John Morici attributed the gross margin increase partly to operational efficiencies and the absence of significant prior-year charges.
Align reported diluted earnings per share of $1.90, compared with $0.78 a year earlier. Morici said the company repurchased $103.3 million of shares during the quarter.

What management said on the call
CEO Joe Hogan described a challenged consumer across North America and other parts of the world. He said patient interest in Invisalign remained present, but affordability could prevent people from starting treatment. Align is integrating patient financing into the Invisalign workflow and evaluating additional options, including a pilot, Hogan said.
Hogan said international markets contributed to clear aligner growth, while North American general-dentist retail remained pressured. He said shipments to younger patients grew internationally and that Align was focusing on clinical education, treatment options and digital workflows to expand adoption among dentists.
On scanners, Hogan said revenue reflected a shift toward lower-priced configurations and leasing, rentals and other flexible acquisition models. CFO John Morici added: “Importantly, like-for-like scanner pricing stabilized during the quarter.” Asked about scanner demand, Morici said some doctors preferred a simpler configuration or did not want to pay upfront; leasing and rental arrangements spread revenue over time.
Morici said non-GAAP gross margin fell below Align’s outlook partly because of clear aligner and systems mix, while expense management and productivity improvements helped operating margin exceed expectations. Hogan said Align was investing in digital treatment planning, AI-enabled capabilities, scanning and manufacturing technology.
Asked about competition and China’s volume-based procurement process, Morici said Align planned to participate and that most of its China business was private. He also said: “The vast majority of cases are still done with wires and brackets,” which he described as an opportunity for clear aligner adoption.
For the quarter ahead, Morici said Align had lowered its systems and services revenue outlook and its clear aligner volume and average selling price assumptions. Hogan said the company’s strategic and operating model review was examining commercial effectiveness, efficiency and resource allocation; Align would provide further details once objectives were finalized and their expected impact could be quantified.
Guidance
Morici said Align reduced its FY2026 reported revenue outlook from its prior guidance, reflecting a lower Q4 systems and services outlook and reduced clear aligner volume and average selling price assumptions. For Q4, Align now expects systems and services revenue of $170.0 million to $180.0 million. Morici attributed the changes partly to product and geographic mix and foreign exchange.
