Latest quarter
Pentair reported Q3 FY2026 revenue of $976.4 million, above the consensus estimate of $963.6 million. Adjusted earnings per share were $1.18, compared with the consensus estimate of $1.07.
Revenue fell from $1.0 billion a year earlier, and Pentair’s filing attributed the decline primarily to distributors reducing Pool inventory. The filing said price increases and sales from the Hydra-Stop acquisition partly offset the decline. Flow and Water Solutions sales rose, while Pool sales fell.
Pentair reported a gross margin of 40.5%, down from 41.0% a year earlier, and an operating margin of 20.1%, down from 22.7%. The filing attributed the gross-margin decline primarily to lower Pool volume and raw-material inflation, partly offset by pricing, productivity and tariff refunds. Free cash flow was $152.7 million, compared with $178.9 million a year earlier.
CEO John Stauch said sales came within Pentair’s quarterly guidance, while adjusted EPS exceeded its $1.05 to $1.08 range.

What management said on the call
CEO John Stauch said Pentair had completed the Pool channel inventory reduction, bringing distributor inventory into line with demand. He distinguished the decline in Pentair’s reported Pool sales from sales through the channel to end customers, which he said had not fallen correspondingly. Stauch said Pentair’s initial view for next year assumed Pool sell-through would remain roughly flat, without a market recovery.
Outgoing interim CFO Bob Fishman said lower Pool volume, inflation and spending on growth initiatives reduced the segment’s return on sales. He said pricing offset inflation across Pentair and that tariff refunds benefited the quarter. In Flow, Fishman said delayed food and beverage spending left sales modestly below expectations, while the remainder of the portfolio grew. He said commercial Water Solutions sales offset an anticipated residential decline.
Stauch said Pentair was adding Pool sales and customer-support resources, investing in product testing and seeking more input from dealers. Asked about competition and potential share losses, he said the company was focusing on aftermarket service, targeted marketing and dealer training rather than relying solely on price. He also said Pentair was working with independent distributors to regain accounts affected by changes to its distribution approach.
On TACO, which Pentair acquired after the quarter, Stauch said its pumps, valves and controls expand the company’s commercial reach and provide replacement and maintenance opportunities. Asked about acquisition synergies, he identified opportunities through sales channels and complementary products but said Pentair had not yet quantified them.
Incoming CFO Bob Hau said Pentair would prioritize paying down debt after the acquisition while supporting its dividend and growth investments. For the quarter ahead, he said Pentair expected continued food and beverage headwinds and a Pool sales decline against the prior-year comparison.
