Everpure, Inc. (P) Earnings & Analysis

Updated · Covers results through Q2 FY2027 · Earnings call · How this is made

Latest quarter

Everpure reported Q2 FY2027 revenue of $1.2 billion, which exceeded the consensus revenue estimate of $1.1 billion. The company reported adjusted EPS, as the consensus counts it, of $0.70, exceeding the consensus estimate of $0.59; its reported diluted EPS was $0.21, compared with $0.14 a year earlier.

The filing attributed the 37.7% year-over-year revenue increase to higher demand for its FlashArray and FlashBlade solutions, increased pricing, a mix shift toward higher-performance configurations, and, to a lesser extent, hyperscaler royalties. The filing said subscription-services revenue increased on sales of Evergreen//One consumption offerings and Evergreen subscription renewals. Everpure reported gross margin of 68.4%, versus 70.2% a year earlier, while operating margin was 5.33%, compared with 0.57%. The company reported free cash flow of −$237.6 million, compared with $150.1 million a year earlier, and the CFO attributed negative quarterly cash flow primarily to strategic component purchases.

What management said on the call

Chief Executive Officer Charlie Giancarlo said Q2 demand was broad-based across geographies, products and business segments, and he said the company’s growth was beyond that of its legacy competitors. Chief Financial Officer Tarek Robbiati said Q2 product-revenue growth reflected pricing, mix shift and capacity growth, offset by lower system-unit volumes. Robbiati said customers were purchasing fewer systems at higher prices and selecting higher-performance configurations with more capacity.

Giancarlo said rising semiconductor costs meant customers transacting during the quarter paid more for less capacity, while some customers increasingly adopted Evergreen One. He said Everpure chose to honor existing commitments and operate at the lower end of its product gross-margin range while component costs increased. Robbiati said the company’s pricing actions had largely offset component-cost increases and that it intended to remain at the low end of its 65% to 70% product gross-margin range until semiconductor costs stabilized.

When analysts asked why the company raised its outlook after earlier uncertainty, Giancarlo said concerns about obtaining components had receded and the company had gained experience with how customers responded to higher prices. When analysts asked whether Q2 included demand pulled forward ahead of price increases, Robbiati said pull-ins did not contribute in Q2 and that the company did not anticipate further pull-in effects during the year.

Robbiati said Everpure made strategic component purchases to support core-business growth and had sufficient supply coverage for the foreseeable future, but he did not provide details because they were commercially sensitive. He said capital expenditures supported hyperscale-business scaling, Evergreen One growth and higher component prices.

Giancarlo said a second top-five hyperscaler had signed a design win and supply agreement, while Robbiati said that agreement was expected to make only a de minimis fiscal-2027 revenue contribution before a meaningful fiscal-2028 ramp. Management declined to discuss individual hyperscaler customers or speculate on the timing of future design wins.
