Latest quarter
Cheniere reported second-quarter revenue of $5.7 billion, above the consensus estimate of $5.0 billion. Its adjusted earnings of $3.02 per share also exceeded the consensus estimate of $2.89.
Revenue rose from $4.6 billion a year earlier. CFO Zach Davis said deliveries increased as new Corpus Christi Stage 3 capacity produced more LNG and the quarter had no major planned maintenance outages. He also attributed support for results to higher marketing margins and optimization activity during continued gas-price volatility. Cheniere produced and exported 184 cargoes, representing a 20% increase in volume from a year earlier, according to CEO Jack Fusco.
Cheniere reported diluted earnings per share of $14.65, compared with $7.30 a year earlier. Davis said the increase in net income was primarily driven by a non-cash derivative impact associated with long-term gas supply agreements. Gross margin rose to 83.0% from 63.9%, while operating margin increased to 74.8% from 54.5%. Cheniere reported free cash flow of $398.0 million, compared with −$113.0 million a year earlier.

What management said on the call
CEO Jack Fusco said the LNG supply disruption had reinforced buyers’ focus on energy security and diversified supply. In the immediate term, he said, buyers were sourcing replacement LNG, finding alternative fuels and managing demand.
Asked about commercial opportunities and competition, LNG marketing head Anatol Feygin said buyers were weighing the “importance of reliability and partnership in this period” against a large volume of approved LNG capacity that had yet to reach end users. He said Cheniere was comfortable it could secure enough customer commitments over the next 12 to 18 months to support the first phase of its Corpus Christi expansion, while the first phase at Sabine Pass was commercialized.
CFO Zach Davis said increased production, higher margins on recent spot sales and optimization activities contributed to the revised outlook. Asked about the production increase, he said reliability work at both sites had reduced downtime, defrosts and maintenance time. Davis also said Cheniere was continuing to sell cargoes forward and expected less than 1 million tons of unsold open volume for 2026.
On investment, Fusco said Corpus Christi Stage 3 Train 6 reached substantial completion in June and Train 7 was commissioning. He said Cheniere had signed an approximately $4.7 billion construction contract for the first phase of the Sabine Pass expansion, with early engineering and equipment procurement underway. Davis said a formal investment decision was expected early the following year.
Asked about derivative accounting, Davis said the company had applied an accounting exception to agreements delivering gas directly to its sites. He said “these agreements will no longer be marked to fair value each period,” which he expected to reduce fluctuations in net income. Davis also said Cheniere would provide its 2027 production forecast on the next call.
Guidance
Cheniere raised its 2026 consolidated adjusted EBITDA guidance to $7.9 billion to $8.4 billion from $7.25 to $7.75 billion, and distributable cash flow guidance to $5.3 billion to $5.8 billion from $4.75 to $5.25 billion.
Davis said the company also increased its full-year production forecast from 52 to 54 million tons to 53 to 54 million tons.
