Latest quarter
Johnson Controls reported Q3 FY2026 revenue of $6.6 billion, up 9.29% from $6.1 billion a year earlier. The company’s $1.42 of adjusted EPS, as the consensus counts it, exceeded the $1.32 consensus by 7.58%, while revenue of $6.6 billion exceeded the $6.4 billion consensus by 2.90%.
The filing attributed the sales increase to $582 million of higher organic sales and $26 million of favorable foreign-currency translation, partly offset by $46 million from divestitures. Excluding currency and divestitures, the filing said sales rose 10%, led by Applied HVAC and growth in both Products and Systems and Services; Products and Systems sales increased 11% and Services sales increased 7%.
Johnson Controls reported gross margin of 37.4%, compared with 37.1% a year earlier, and operating margin of 14.9%, compared with 12.9%. The filing attributed higher gross profit primarily to organic sales growth, productivity improvements and operating leverage. Free cash flow was $1.2 billion, compared with $693.0 million a year earlier. Revenue growth of 9.29% was above the company’s 6.00% Q3 FY2026 organic-sales-growth guide.

What management said on the call
Joakim Weidemanis said the company’s pipeline continued to grow at a healthy rate, with data centers an important contributor and the non-data-center pipeline growing almost double digits. He said Johnson Controls had made physical-plant investments about two years earlier, was ramping new or expanded facilities ahead of its expectations, and expected its business system to create additional capacity in existing space before further physical expansion.
The filing reported that quarterly orders increased 27% and backlog increased 32%, reflecting demand in large projects, including large-scale data-center projects. Weidemanis said higher heat generation in data centers made thermal management more critical, while energy efficiency remained essential to customers. He said the company had not seen demand effects from community concerns about data-center power use, though power availability constrained where projects were deployed.
Asked about supply chain capacity, Weidemanis said the company controlled more of its own supply chain because of its vertical integration but still relied on external vendors for some inputs. He said external-vendor bottlenecks occurred occasionally in a high-growth environment. He also said the company was making progress through pilots and early orders for its Alloy investment.
On the Middle East, Weidemanis said it represented about 10% of EMEA business and that the company assumed no material change in conditions over the next several quarters. Marc said the company saw a decline in Americas service backlog primarily associated with security, rather than profitability. He said competitive volume pressure in security reflected that business being less differentiated than HVAC, and that targeted actions focused on price, volume and greater operating consistency.
Marc said it was too early to provide specific fiscal 2027 guidance. He said the company remained confident in its long-term framework of high-single-digit top-line growth and at least 30% incremental performance, supported by its backlog and pipeline, and said fiscal 2027 details would be provided on the next earnings call.
