Latest quarter

Gen Digital reported Q2 FY2027 revenue of $1.4 billion, above the $1.3 billion consensus. Adjusted earnings per share were $0.74, also above the $0.72 consensus. CFO Natalie Derse said revenue exceeded the high end of the company’s guidance and non-GAAP EPS exceeded its guided range.

Revenue rose 12.2% from a year earlier, and Gen attributed the increase to sales growth in both Trust-Based Solutions and Cyber Safety. CEO Vincent Pilette said Cyber Safety revenue grew 5%, led by comprehensive memberships and customer upgrades, while Trust-Based Solutions grew 26%, driven by financial wellness adoption and Engine’s partner strategy.

Gen’s gross margin fell to 75.9% from 78.2% a year earlier, while operating margin rose to 37.0% from 35.9%. In its filing, the company attributed higher cost of revenue primarily to increased partner revenue share, mainly in Trust-Based Solutions.

Diluted EPS rose to $0.48 from $0.21 a year earlier. Gen reported free cash flow of $323.0 million, compared with $107.0 million in the prior-year quarter.

What management said on the call

Pilette said demand for comprehensive Cyber Safety memberships and customer upgrades supported growth, while financial wellness adoption and Engine’s partner strategy drove Trust-Based Solutions. Derse said partner-channel revenue grew 40% to $295 million, with growth across employee benefits, the financial marketplace and telecom channels. She said Engine’s matched product inquiries more than doubled from a year earlier, an indication of consumer interest in the marketplace.

Derse said Cyber Safety margin reached 62%, while Trust-Based Solutions margin was stable at 30%. Pilette said Gen is simplifying financial wellness pricing, bringing more advances to its own spending accounts and shifting Engine toward higher-margin first-party demand. He said the company would reinvest excess margin in Trust-Based Solutions to acquire customers, while managing the segment around a 20% growth and 30% margin model.

Asked about consumer AI agents and subscriptions, Pilette said Gen had seen no increase in subscription activity from agents and pointed to renewal rates and demand for its products. He described risks from agents accessing accounts and encountering scam websites, and said Agent Trust Hub screens agent skills and monitors agents. Pilette said, “I don’t expect significant material revenue impact from that here now.”

Derse said Gen would continue investing in sales and marketing for awareness, conversion and upselling. She also said AI resolves roughly half of customer-support contacts end-to-end, and that 75% of the code shipped in the first half was AI-written.

Questioned about acquisitions, Pilette said Gen considers partnerships and acquisitions that can extend its capabilities, but reiterated, “We are not working today on a transformative deal.” He said the company’s outlook for this year and next does not depend on an acquisition.

Guidance

Derse said Gen raised and narrowed its FY2027 revenue outlook to $5.465 billion to $5.515 billion, from $5.375 billion to $5.475 billion. She also raised the full-year non-GAAP EPS outlook to $2.93 to $2.98, from $2.87 to $2.97.
