What management said on the call
Mike Wisterich, Interim Chief Executive Officer, said Expand Energy’s marketing and commercial strategy focuses on facilitating and capturing new demand, reaching premium markets and monetizing volatility. He said the company had announced the purchase of Twin Eagle to accelerate that strategy and link customers to physical supply rather than rely on directional commodity-price exposure. Wisterich said Expand Energy expects Twin Eagle to contribute more than $200 million of EBITDA in year one under normal market conditions and to grow to $350 million per year as synergies are captured over two years.
Dan Turco, Executive Vice President of Marketing & Commercial, said management remained constructive on demand from power, industrial and LNG customers. Turco said the company had increased its LNG demand view after seeing accelerated demand and more final investment decisions, while describing power, industrial and LNG as sources of structural demand. In response to questions about Twin Eagle, Marcel Tunison, Chief Financial Officer, said the $200 million EBITDA figure reflected a base level delivered over the previous several years and said the company was not prepared to quantify exact customer relationships in storage.
Tunison said capital allocation first prioritizes reinvestment in the ongoing business, followed by dividends and the balance sheet, with remaining cash directed to the highest-returning opportunity, including possible share repurchases. Wisterich said the company repurchased $850 million of shares, or 4% of shares outstanding, and that the board authorized an additional $1.0 billion for future repurchases.
Josh Viets, Executive Vice President of Exploration & Production, said capital spending was expected to tail off in the second half because of less drilling-and-completion activity in Appalachia, though organic lease opportunities could move spending toward the high end of the full-year range. Viets said higher fuel costs created capital-expenditure headwinds, while enhanced completions in Haynesville had increased per-well production by about 5% to 10% and could improve future maintenance-capital requirements. He said the company expected roughly 10 fewer Haynesville turn-in-lines in 2026 than previously anticipated because larger completions lengthened pump and drill-out times.
For the quarter ahead, Viets said Expand Energy expected fourth-quarter production above 7.6 Bcf per day, while retaining flexibility to manage Appalachia volumes through curtailments and turn-in-line timing to align production with price.
