Latest quarter
Royal Gold reported Q3 FY2026 revenue of $464.8 million, up from $252.1 million a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share rose to $2.68 from $1.92.
The company attributed the revenue increase principally to higher average gold, silver and copper prices, new contributions from the Kansanshi stream and the Sandstorm and Horizon assets, and higher sales from several existing interests. Its filing also cited higher production from the Cortez Legacy Zone, partly offset by lower Rainy River sales.
Royal Gold’s gross margin was 86.6%, compared with 87.5% a year earlier, while its operating margin was 65.4%, compared with 64.4%. The filing said cost of sales rose as payments for stream deliveries increased with metal prices and new sales. It also attributed higher depreciation, depletion and amortization primarily to the acquired Kansanshi stream and Sandstorm and Horizon assets.
Royal Gold reported free cash flow of $344.4 million, compared with $174.0 million a year earlier. CFO Paul Libner said higher stream and royalty revenue and lower acquisition-related costs and interest payments contributed to higher operating cash flow, partly offset by higher income tax expense.

What management said on the call
CFO Paul Libner said higher metal prices and contributions from Kansanshi and the Sandstorm and Horizon portfolio helped lift quarterly revenue. Gold accounted for 73% of revenue, he said, while silver accounted for 14% and copper for 10%. CEO William Heissenbuttel said the company had only 2 assets contributing more than 10% of revenue in the quarter and that diversification reduced exposure to events at any one mine.
Heissenbuttel said Royal Gold repaid $250 million on its revolving credit facility during the quarter and the remaining $150 million in October, leaving the company debt-free. He said the full $1.4 billion facility was available for business development. The CEO described capital allocation by saying, “priority one from my perspective is finding new business opportunities.”
Libner said Royal Gold sold a second tranche of deferred Mount Milligan gold consideration after quarter end for approximately $46 million. He said the proceeds would appear in fourth-quarter operating cash flow, rather than revenue or gold equivalent ounces. He also said the company had finalized details for a final $50 million advance payment for the Warintza stream and royalty and expected to make it shortly.
On project spending, Libner said Royal Gold expected to begin contributing its 15% share of Hod Maden costs in mid-2027, assuming no changes to the project timeline or scope and no debt financing. Operations chief Martin Raffield said production at Antamina was suspended on October 27 following a fatality to allow investigations.
In the question-and-answer session, Heissenbuttel declined to get too specific about the company’s outlook for 2027 and beyond. Raffield said the focus at Cortez was on the Legacy Zone as mining moved toward the bottom of the Crossroads pit, and he expected that focus to continue through at least part of the following year.
Guidance
Raffield said Royal Gold had raised its full-year guidance for other metals following year-to-date sales. He said silver and copper sales were expected to be at or above the top end of their guidance ranges.
