Latest quarter

Jacobs reported Q3 FY2026 revenue of $4.1 billion, above the $3.5 billion consensus. Adjusted earnings per share matched the consensus at $1.84.

Revenue rose 34.5% from $3.0 billion a year earlier. The filing attributed the increase mainly to Infrastructure & Advanced Facilities, including its Global Operations, International and Americas sectors. It also said higher pass-through costs contributed to the segment’s revenue growth. PA Consulting revenue fell, with delayed client approvals affecting the timing of revenue recognition.

Diluted earnings per share fell to $1.15 from $1.55. Jacobs’ filing cited higher income tax expense, primarily from non-deductible expenses associated with the PA Consulting transaction, and the absence of prior-year investment gains among the factors affecting net earnings.

Gross margin declined to 19.9% from 25.0%; the filing cited pass-through revenue, project mix and lower utilization, primarily at PA Consulting. Jacobs reported free cash flow of $431.0 million, compared with $270.5 million a year earlier.

What management said on the call

CEO Bob Pragada said direct AI build-out represented 11% of adjusted net revenue in Q3 and that the pipeline of future opportunities was growing. He said Jacobs had expanded its services for data centers from technical advice and design to digital twins and program delivery. Pragada also described a new contract for the Beacon Point AI data center campus in Texas, following work on another campus for the same client.

Asked about data-center demand, Pragada said visibility into the pipeline had extended from six to nine months to two to three years. He added that “we’re being selective because there is also a lot of speculative work that’s out there,” and said Jacobs was pursuing work with established customers or providers backed by companies it knew.

CFO Venk Nathamuni said life sciences and advanced manufacturing net revenue grew 24% in Q3, helped by data centers and semiconductors. He said water and environmental growth faced headwinds in the environmental sector, but he expected sequential improvement in Q4 following awards. For PA Consulting, Nathamuni said changes in UK governmental leadership had delayed project starts; he expected quarter-on-quarter revenue growth in Q4 as projects commenced.

On margins, Nathamuni said operating leverage and greater use of global delivery had been important drivers of expansion. In response to a question about Q4, he said “we have an extra week in the Q4” and pointed to higher utilization and greater use of global delivery in discussing the margin outlook.

Asked about the following fiscal year, Nathamuni deferred specifics on the growth profile until the next call, while saying he expected growth at least in line with the company’s long-term average. He also said Jacobs planned to reduce its net leverage ratio to approximately 1.5 times by the end of fiscal 2027.

Guidance

For FY2026, CFO Venk Nathamuni raised the adjusted net revenue growth outlook to 9.5% to 10% and narrowed the adjusted EBITDA margin range to 14.7% to 14.8%, from 14.6% to 14.9% previously. He also raised the adjusted EPS outlook to $7.20 to $7.30, from the prior $7.10 to $7.35 range, and raised the adjusted free cash flow margin forecast to 8%.
