Latest quarter
GXO reported third-quarter revenue of $3.6 billion, exceeding the consensus by 0.92%, although both reported revenue and the estimate rounded to $3.6 billion. Adjusted earnings per share were $0.89, above the $0.86 consensus.
Revenue rose from $3.4 billion a year earlier. In its filing, GXO attributed growth across its regions to new business wins and increased activity with existing customers, including technology and data centers, aerospace and defense, industrials and life sciences. CFO Mark Suchinski said technology and consumer electronics revenue rose 19%, driven by data center growth.
GXO’s gross margin fell to 14.7% from 15.8%, while operating margin declined to 2.67% from 3.48%. The filing attributed higher direct operating expenses partly to labor and other costs for new customer start-ups as operations ramped toward expected productivity, as well as changes in business mix. Diluted earnings per share rose to $0.56 from $0.51.
Free cash flow fell to $85.0 million from $187.0 million a year earlier. Suchinski attributed the year-over-year change primarily to the timing of an ERP implementation and higher net capital expenditure.

What management said on the call
CEO Patrick Kelleher said GXO signed $375 million of new business in the third quarter, up 34% from a year earlier, led by large global accounts and targeted growth industries. He said signed wins exceeded $1 billion through the end of the quarter, while the sales pipeline reached $3.1 billion. CFO Mark Suchinski said third-quarter organic growth was 6.4%, including a 1% benefit from customer volumes.
Asked about the sources of growth, Kelleher pointed to the company’s North American focus and its emphasis on aerospace and defense and technology, including data centers. Chief Strategy Officer Kristine Kubacki said data center and aerospace contracts involve complex supply chains and tend to be higher-value services than some core work.
On pricing and margins, Kelleher said new contracts carry margins above GXO’s existing business. He said rapid signings outpaced the positioning of internal implementation staff, prompting GXO to use external help and incur short-term costs that affected third-quarter EBITDA margins. Kelleher described the outside support as “a one-time thing to support those activities” while GXO adds operational resources.
Suchinski said startup costs and investments in the commercial organization, labor management and GXO IQ affected the quarter’s adjusted EBITDA margin. Kelleher said the unified labor management system was live in several countries and that GXO IQ, its warehouse AI platform, was deployed across all three regions. He expects the operational initiatives to begin delivering productivity benefits in 2027.
Asked about competition, Kelleher said GXO had not lost contract logistics business to Amazon and was not seeing it in competitive bids. For the fourth quarter, Suchinski said GXO expects organic growth slightly above 5% assuming flat volumes; if volume trends hold, he said growth could resemble the third quarter’s. He also expects sequential margin improvement from procurement savings, operating initiatives and a more favorable balance between wins and exits.
