Latest quarter
Trimble reported Q3 FY2026 revenue of $966.8 million, up from $901.2 million a year earlier and within its own guidance range. Diluted earnings per share fell to $0.25 from $0.46, below the company’s earlier GAAP EPS guidance of $0.39 to $0.44. On the call, CFO Phil reported adjusted EPS of $0.86.
For the separate quarter ended June 30, Trimble reported revenue of $972.0 million and adjusted EPS of $0.86, above consensus estimates of $950.9 million and $0.80, respectively.
Trimble’s filing attributed Q3 organic revenue growth to demand for civil construction and geospatial products and subscription growth across its segments. It said a higher mix of lower-margin hardware reduced gross margin as a percentage of revenue. Gross margin was 68.2%, down from 68.9%, while operating margin fell to 14.7% from 16.7%.
The filing said higher sales and marketing costs and restructuring expenses reduced operating income. It also attributed a higher effective tax rate primarily to a one-time tax reserve charge, partly offset by a deferred tax benefit. Free cash flow rose to $141.8 million from $116.6 million.

What management said on the call
CEO Rob Painter said U.S. demand offset a challenging supply chain and a tepid European market. Asked about Europe, he said the softer conditions were more evident in Field Systems and the Transporeon transportation business than in AECO, the construction software segment.
Painter said annualized recurring revenue, or ARR, was below Trimble’s expectations. Positioning-services growth slowed in agriculture, particularly in South America, and subscriptions attached to geospatial and civil construction equipment renewed at lower-than-expected rates. He added that Transporeon volumes and spot-price mix were below levels earlier in the year.
Asked by analyst Jonathan about the businesses, CFO Phil said AECO’s net retention, excluding SketchUp, was about 110% and gross retention was stable. He said the conversion rates for positioning services bundled with construction hardware were lower than modeled, although they still contributed to growth. In response to analyst Quinn, Painter pointed to machine-control-as-a-service bookings growth of more than 50% in the quarter and said more than a third of customers won with the offering were new to Trimble.
Painter said Trimble had started efficiency and cost-reduction measures while increasing investment in AI-native products. He described the near-term priority as adoption and customer value, with monetization following as usage patterns mature. Asked about AI pricing and margins, he said Trimble was able to price model costs through product tiers and consumption- or project-based charges, and expected margins to be at least neutral in the near term.
On AI’s overall contribution, Painter said he would not expect an aggregate quantification to be a “needle mover” in the first half of next year. He said the second half might provide a clearer view, while pointing to existing revenue from autonomous freight procurement and quotation.
Guidance
Trimble reduced its FY2026 ARR growth outlook to approximately 10% from 12–14%, citing positioning-services and transportation market effects. CFO Phil said the company slightly increased its full-year adjusted EPS guidance midpoint to $3.66.
Phil raised the expected AECO operating margin to 36% from 35% and the Transportation and Logistics margin expectation to 25%. He now expects Field Systems ARR growth in the low single digits; Trimble had previously guided to high single-digit to low double-digit growth.
