Latest quarter
Simpson reported Q2 FY2026 revenue of $671.1 million, up from $631.1 million a year earlier, and diluted earnings per share of $3.09, up from $2.47.
The company’s filing said North American sales increased 6.0%, primarily because of price increases, partly offset by a slight decline in unit volumes. In Europe, sales rose 7.6% as volumes and prices increased and currency translation provided a benefit.
Simpson reported a gross margin of 47.4%, compared with 46.4% a year earlier. Its filing attributed the increase in gross profit primarily to higher sales. Operating margin rose to 25.2% from 22.2%; the filing said operating income increased mostly because of higher gross profit.
The company reported free cash flow of $203.6 million, compared with $87.7 million in the prior-year quarter.

What management said on the call
On Simpson’s April Q1 earnings call, CEO Michael Olosky said component manufacturing volumes grew by double digits, primarily because of new customer wins. He said truss manufacturers were seeking improvements in labor efficiency, throughput and operational visibility, increasing demand for Simpson’s software, plates, equipment and design services.
Olosky said residential volumes increased modestly, supported by cross-selling, while commercial volumes declined slightly amid mixed activity across markets and geographies. He described the national retail environment as competitive and said customers were selective in discretionary spending.
Asked about pricing, Olosky said Simpson had introduced European surcharges and price increases as input costs rose. CFO Matt Dunn said a combination of those European actions and North American product mix had raised the expected annualized contribution from pricing to $130 million. He cautioned that the mix effect did not necessarily improve gross or operating margin.
Dunn said first-quarter start-up costs at the Gallatin facility represented an approximate 100 basis point headwind to gross margin, which he expected to moderate during the year. In response to a question about inventory, he said Simpson was working to improve finished-goods and work-in-process inventory productivity, while raw-material inventory could rise as the company bought steel.
Asked about spending reductions, Dunn said foreign currency translation and one-time costs associated with savings initiatives affected first-quarter expenses. He said selling, general and administrative headcount had declined year over year. On the market outlook, Olosky said the company expected U.S. housing starts to decline by low single digits in 2026 and expected flat to modest European market growth.
