What management said on the call

Sundaram Nagarajan said the company entered the fourth quarter with backlog up 35% from a year earlier, with all three segments contributing and particular strength in advanced technology and medical. Dan Hopgood told analysts that backlog growth was broad-based, that most backlog turns within about six months, and that order patterns had not materially changed even as the company took some orders for 2027.

Nagarajan said electronics dispense and test-and-inspection businesses both grew, while demand in the test-and-inspection operations reached an inflection point in X-ray and optical products. He said order entry, pipeline activity and customer conversations supported the company’s expectations for the fourth quarter and into the following year. Hopgood said Advanced Technology Solutions and Medical and Fluid Solutions drove the higher full-year outlook, while Industrial Precision Solutions tracked the company’s expectations.

Hopgood said Industrial Precision Solutions’ aftermarket demand remained stable, while systems demand in broader industrial and agricultural markets was stable with limited growth. He said medical-component demand had normalized, with stable growth in many product lines, and said the company was seeing broad-based demand for fluid-solution systems in medical and electronics markets.

Nagarajan said Nordson’s shorter lead times and improved on-time delivery created opportunities to gain share. Hopgood said the company continued to invest in innovation, capital projects and operational initiatives. He said the company’s long-term incremental-margin target is 35% to 40% across its segments, while current Industrial Precision Solutions priorities are maximizing growth and maintaining its margin position.

Hopgood said tariffs had not had a material impact on Nordson, though the company was pursuing recoveries for selected tariffs and managing broader inflationary pressures in freight and selected commodities. He said Nordson does not typically provide segment-level outlook detail. Nagarajan said the company assumed foreign-exchange rates would remain at current levels, implying a neutral fourth-quarter foreign-exchange effect.

Guidance

Nagarajan said Nordson increased its fiscal 2026 sales outlook to $3.35 billion to $3.75 billion from the prior $2.930 billion to $3.010 billion range. He said adjusted diluted EPS is now expected to be $11.80 to $12.00, compared with the prior $11.30 to $11.80 range. Hopgood said the company expects its full-year tax rate to be near 18%, compared with its prior adjusted range of 18% to 19%.
