Latest quarter
Linde reported Q2 FY2026 revenue of $9.3 billion, above the consensus of $9.0 billion. Adjusted earnings per share were $4.50, compared with the consensus estimate of $4.49.
Revenue rose from $8.5 billion a year earlier. CFO Matt White said underlying sales grew 4%, split between higher prices and volumes. He attributed almost half of the volume increase to project startups in APAC and the Americas, with the remainder driven by organic growth in several markets.
Linde reported diluted EPS of $4.15, up from $3.73 a year earlier. Gross margin declined to 47.7% from 49.3%, and operating margin slipped to 27.5% from 27.7%. White said U.S. home care weighed on Americas margins, while lower-margin equipment sales to electronics customers affected APAC. Linde reported free cash flow of $833.0 million, down from $954.0 million a year earlier.

What management said on the call
On Linde’s Q2 call, CEO Sanjeev Lamba said electronics demand was benefiting from project startups and hardware associated with AI. He said a new U.S. electronics win increased the sale-of-gas backlog to $8.1 billion. He also described electronics wins at a Taiwan joint venture that would invest approximately 800 million dollars in production units serving semiconductor and advanced-packaging facilities.
Lamba said manufacturing volumes grew in APAC and the Americas, with the U.S. the primary driver. CFO Matt White said the price increase of two percent was broad-based across geographies and generally tracked local inflation. In response to a question about Americas pricing, White said year-over-year pricing was tracking Linde’s expectations, though pricing in U.S. home care was not keeping up with what the business needed.
Lamba attributed most of the margin pressure to U.S. home care, citing cost inflation and policy changes. Asked about the business, he said Linde had installed a new management team and was pursuing operational improvements while assessing strategic options. He said, “We have a series of actions underway, and I fully expect sequential improvement into the third quarter.”
Asked about helium disruption, Lamba said Linde had maintained supplies to contracted customers and signed new long-term customers using its diverse supply sources and logistics capabilities. He said a restart of production and the alignment of shipping and equipment would take time, adding, “I don’t think you will see normalization this year”.
On investment and competition, White said backlog wins and commercial-space activity were contributing to a higher capital spending estimate. He said some commercial-space customers may own plants rather than outsource gas supply, and that Linde could combine customer-owned and company-owned plants in a system. For the quarter ahead, White said the Q3 guidance midpoint assumed no economic improvement; Linde has since issued a later outlook.
