Latest quarter
IDEX reported third-quarter revenue of $951.7 million, above the $919.4 million consensus and up from $878.7 million a year earlier. Adjusted EPS of $2.33 also exceeded the $2.23 consensus; reported diluted EPS rose to $1.95 from $1.70.
The company’s filing attributed organic sales growth to higher volumes, primarily in Health & Science Technologies (HST), and positive pricing across all segments. CFO Sean Gillen said HST organic sales grew 13%, while Fluid & Metering Technologies (FMT) grew 4% and Fire & Safety/Diversified Products (FSDP) grew 6%.
IDEX reported gross margin of 45.1%, compared with 44.5% a year earlier, and operating margin of 21.9%, compared with 21.1%. The filing said productivity, volume leverage and mix benefited gross margin, although costs were not fully recovered at historical margin rates. Free cash flow rose to $214.3 million from $188.7 million.
Gillen said organic revenue growth of 8% exceeded the company’s 5% to 7% quarterly guidance. He also said adjusted EPS and adjusted EBITDA margin exceeded their guidance ranges.

What management said on the call
CEO Eric Ashleman said data centers, semiconductors, space and defense, and water were leading growth. He said IDEX supplies thermal-management and liquid-cooling components for data centers, while semiconductor demand spans filtration, sealing, optics and thermal management. In FMT, he said demand was broadening across industrial businesses, with signs of stabilization in agriculture and energy.
Gillen said orders grew organically across all three segments, although they declined sequentially from the second quarter, primarily because of the timing of data-center orders. Asked about order flow, Ashleman said IDEX had backlog to fulfill and described large data-center orders as “a little lumpy, a little unpredictable.” He said preseason agriculture ordering had improved, while chemicals continued to be affected by elevated input prices.
On the competitive approach, Ashleman said IDEX adapts component technologies to new applications and connects teams across acquired businesses. He cited Muon’s use of electroforming, previously deployed in respiratory applications, for fiber alignment in data centers. At Mott, he said IDEX shifted resources toward semiconductor and space and defense applications. Gillen said the acquisition contributed through mix and early continuous-improvement work.
Ashleman said inflation and energy prices continued to push input costs higher, but pricing exceeded costs in dollar terms during the quarter. Gillen said pricing contributed around 2% of revenue in the quarter and that IDEX continued to expect to price above costs.
For the fourth quarter, Gillen expects margins to decline sequentially, citing fewer production days and planned maintenance shutdowns. He said IDEX was investing capital to support growth and pursuing acquisitions that fit its existing platforms. Asked about acquisitions, Ashleman said the company was pursuing discussions but would remain disciplined about larger opportunities.

IDEX raised its FY2026 organic growth outlook to 6.5% to 6.8% from 5% to 6%, and its adjusted EPS range to $8.91 to $8.96 from $8.70 to $8.85. Gillen said the company tightened its adjusted EBITDA margin expectation to 27.1% to 27.3%, from its prior 27.0% to 27.3% range.
