Latest quarter
Frontdoor reported Q2 FY2026 revenue of $645.0 million, above the $642.2 million consensus and up from $617.0 million a year earlier. Adjusted EPS of $1.93 also exceeded the $1.78 consensus; diluted EPS rose to $1.76 from $1.48. Revenue came within the company’s own guidance range.
In its filing, Frontdoor attributed higher renewal revenue to prior pricing actions and growth in non-warranty and other revenue primarily to its HVAC upgrade program. Direct-to-consumer revenue declined as discounting reduced realized prices, partly offset by more home warranties. Real estate revenue increased as more first-year warranties offset lower realized prices.
Frontdoor’s gross margin rose to 58.6% from 57.7%, while operating margin increased to 25.7% from 23.8%. The filing attributed lower contract claims costs partly to fewer service requests per customer, with favorable weather partly offset by inflationary pressures. Free cash flow was $120.0 million, unchanged from a year earlier.

What management said on the call
Frontdoor’s latest available call covered the first quarter, before the reported second-quarter results. CEO William Cobb said the company was seeking to grow its member base through marketing, promotional pricing and improvements to its sales process. He said direct-to-consumer renewal rates for promotional cohorts were consistently exceeding those of non-discounted cohorts.
Cobb said the real estate team was investing locally and using targeted promotions as home inventory increased. In response to a question about pricing, he said Frontdoor was testing dynamic discounting alongside broader promotions, while monitoring whether renewal rates stayed high. He also said the company had not seen softness in consumer demand, although the sluggish real estate market could affect that channel.
On costs, CFO Jason Bailey said the company expected low single-digit inflation for the full year and was managing total cost per job through contractor relationships, suppliers, service fees and pricing. Cobb said dynamic pricing could increase prices for some members and decrease them for others. Bailey said the effectiveness of those tools, rather than incremental pricing since the previous update, was reflected in the outlook.
Bailey said Frontdoor planned higher sales and marketing spending to support momentum in first-year channels. For the quarter ahead, he expected higher gross profit from revenue conversion, alongside inflation and a continued shift toward non-warranty revenue. Cobb said the HVAC upgrade program was driving non-warranty growth, with more claims routed to contractors that converted quotes into orders.
Asked about the decision to reaffirm guidance after the first-quarter results, Bailey cited timing and the company’s monitoring of macroeconomic news. Cobb also said Frontdoor faced more competitors in real estate than in direct-to-consumer.
Guidance
On the first-quarter call, CFO Jason Bailey said Frontdoor was reaffirming its full-year outlook, with key assumptions essentially unchanged. He cited the timing of the first-quarter result and the company’s attention to macroeconomic news when explaining that decision. Frontdoor’s August results release set out its full-year and third-quarter outlooks.
