Eaton Corporation, PLC (ETN) Earnings & Analysis

Updated · Covers results through Q3 FY2026 · Earnings call · How this is made

Latest quarter

Eaton reported Q3 FY2026 revenue of $8.9 billion, up 28.0% from $7.0 billion a year earlier. Its filing attributed organic sales growth to demand across its electrical businesses, commercial aerospace and Mobility, while acquisitions also contributed to growth.

Diluted earnings per share rose to $2.77 from $2.59. Eaton’s filing shows that adjusted earnings per share also increased. Gross margin fell to 34.7% from 38.3%; the company cited commodity and wage inflation and higher intangible asset amortization, partly offset by higher sales. Free cash flow was $1.0 billion, down from $1.2 billion a year earlier.

Eaton’s filing shows sales rose in Electrical Americas, Electrical Global, Aerospace and Mobility. The company attributed Electrical Americas’ organic growth in part to data centers, while Electrical Global benefited from growth across its markets and the Boyd Thermal acquisition.

For the earlier quarter ended June 30, Eaton’s revenue of $8.5 billion exceeded the $8.0 billion consensus, and adjusted EPS of $3.15 exceeded the $3.08 consensus.

What management said on the call

CEO Paulo Ruiz said demand was broadening beyond data centers to commercial and institutional customers, utilities, industrial facilities and machine builders. He said Electrical Americas’ negotiations pipeline and backlog were growing as customers planned multiyear projects, while new capacity was translating into output and margins.

CFO Dave Foster said Electrical Americas’ rolling 12-month orders rose 39.0%. He said commodity costs drove most of the segment’s year-over-year margin decline, but pricing actions taken in Q2 and early Q3 had made price-cost positive in dollar terms during Q3. Ruiz said the company uses commodity adjustments in contracts, price-list changes and project-by-project negotiations.

Foster said Electrical Global’s rolling 12-month orders rose 51.0%, with demand across its markets. Asked about the segment’s growth, Ruiz said its backlog had risen even excluding Boyd, and pointed to earlier restructuring in Europe and added capacity in Asia. He said Eaton was following global customers as they built facilities in other regions.

On Boyd, Ruiz said customer investment in AI and data-center infrastructure supported growth, and that Eaton’s sales channels could expand the cooling business’s customer access. Asked about modular products, he said Eaton manufactures components inside the modules, giving it control over lead times and supply; he also said factory assembly can reduce work at customer sites.

Asked about solid-state transformers and a potential shift from AC to DC distribution, Ruiz said Eaton sells equipment for both architectures and that “the timing of that transition is not under our control.” On acquisitions, he said Eaton was focusing on integration and execution, while remaining interested in smaller electrical deals in Europe and potentially Asia.

For Q4, Ruiz said he expected Electrical Americas incremental margins to improve from Q3 as the company continued to manage inflation and pricing.

Guidance

Ruiz said Eaton raised its FY2026 organic growth outlook to 13.0%–15.0% and its adjusted EPS outlook to $13.70–$13.80. He said the organic growth increase reflected higher expectations for Electrical Americas and Electrical Global.

Ruiz also raised Boyd Thermal’s FY2026 revenue outlook to $1.9 billion, of which $1.6 billion is expected to be recorded in Eaton’s results. For FY2027, he said he expected Boyd revenue of at least $2.7 billion.
