Element Solutions Inc. (ESI) Earnings & Analysis

Updated · Covers results through Q3 FY2026 · Earnings call · How this is made

Latest quarter

Element Solutions reported third-quarter revenue of $995.3 million, above the consensus of $968.0 million, and adjusted earnings per share of $0.50, above the consensus of $0.48. Revenue increased 51.7% from $656.1 million a year earlier, while diluted earnings per share rose to $0.27 from $0.16.

The company’s filing attributed reported sales growth in part to acquisitions and metals costs passed through to customers. Electronics also grew organically, with the filing citing demand for data-center assembly materials, circuit-board metallization and advanced semiconductor packaging. In Specialties, the filing said industrial pricing supported sales, while Energy Solutions declined organically after temporary equipment downtime at a large customer.

Element Solutions reported a gross margin of 34.4%, down from 42.2% a year earlier, and an operating margin of 11.4%, down from 15.4%. The filing attributed the decline in Electronics gross margin excluding pass-through metals partly to a greater share of lower-margin precious-metals products. Free cash flow increased to $128.8 million from $83.7 million.

What management said on the call

CEO Ben Gliklich said customers were adding capacity for data-center infrastructure and other high-performance electronics, increasing demand for materials used in thermal management, power delivery and advanced packaging. CFO Carey Dorman said Semiconductor Solutions’ organic sales grew 24.0% in the quarter, helped by improved orders for power electronics and demand for advanced packaging materials in Asia. Circuitry Solutions grew 16.0% organically, which Dorman attributed to demand for board metallization tied to AI infrastructure and high-performance computing.

Dorman said higher precious-metals prices magnified Semiconductor Solutions’ revenue growth, while industrial price increases were tied to raw-material inflation. He said an offshore customer’s equipment failure and the timing of industrial price increases relative to costs hurt Specialties margins. In response to a question about margins, Dorman said higher incentive compensation accruals had affected both businesses, while the mix of higher-value Electronics products supported incremental margins.

Gliklich said Element Solutions was adding production capacity for engineered preforms and thermal-interface products, as well as electronics laboratories in India and Southeast Asia. Asked about Kuprion ActiveCopper, he said two customers had qualified the product for high-volume manufacturing and that the company was developing additional production sites.

When asked about demand heading into the next quarter, Gliklich said, “we’ve seen no diminution over the past several months,” and expected Electronics growth outside Micromax to remain primarily volume-driven. On competition in circuitry, he attributed the business’s performance relative to expected market growth to its position in complex data-center boards. Dorman said the offshore customer had returned online and expected its sales impact to be fully recovered by the first quarter of fiscal 2027.

Gliklich also said Element Solutions mutually terminated its proposed Solstice transaction after shareholders expressed a preference for its standalone plan. He said Matt Liebowitz would become chief operating officer, while Dorman would become president in addition to remaining CFO.

Guidance

Gliklich said Element Solutions raised its fiscal 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance to approximately $720.0 million. Dorman said the company now expects capital expenditure of roughly $110.0 million for the year.
