What management said on the call

CEO Christophe Beck said Ecolab’s core businesses strengthened and its growth engines accelerated during the quarter. In High-Tech, he attributed demand to data-center cooling and circular water for microelectronics; in Life Sciences, he said bioprocessing led growth as customers moved drug molecules into commercial manufacturing.

Beck said commodity costs were expected to remain high, but pricing and supply-chain management should continue to offset them. Organic operating income margin reached 19.6% in the quarter, which he linked to productivity and investments in the One Ecolab initiative.

For Institutional & Specialty, Beck pointed to declining North American restaurant traffic and said Ecolab would expand its field sales presence, integrate service across customer segments and combine more of its water, hygiene and pest offerings. He said the company planned to double its North American sales capacity in the business.

Asked about High-Tech, Beck said Ecolab had integrated its data-center business with CoolIT and its microelectronics business with Ovivo. He said the current growth was not driven by cross-selling between those businesses, which he described as an opportunity ahead. On competition, he said Ecolab was offering integrated cooling rather than individual components.

Beck also said the company would expand manufacturing capacity for cooling equipment and related technology, both in Calgary and closer to customers. Asked about revenue potential per megawatt installed, he said the company was still working out a total for its data-center offering.

On the pace of High-Tech growth, Beck cautioned that “63% is not going to be the steady state growth that we’re planning.” For Life Sciences, he said the prior-year maintenance comparison had helped quarterly earnings growth and that the same pace would not continue in coming quarters.

Guidance

For full-year 2026, Ecolab now expects adjusted earnings of $8.10 to $8.20 per share, compared with its previous outlook of $8.05 to $8.25 per share.
