DexCom, Inc. (DXCM) Earnings & Analysis

Updated · Covers results through Q3 FY2026 · Earnings call · How this is made

Latest quarter

DexCom reported third-quarter revenue of $1.34 billion, beating the consensus by 1.64%. Adjusted earnings were $0.73 per share, above the consensus estimate of $0.66.

Revenue rose 11.2% from a year earlier. The filing attributed the increase primarily to higher disposable sensor sales as DexCom’s worldwide customer base grew. U.S. revenue rose 14% to $970 million, while international revenue increased 5% to $375 million, CFO Jereme Sylvain said.

DexCom’s gross margin rose to 64.3% from 60.5% a year earlier. The filing cited higher sales volume, G7 15 Day benefits and manufacturing efficiencies, partly offset by inventory reserve charges associated mainly with the planned discontinuation of G6 manufacturing. Operating margin increased to 24.3% from 20.1%.

Diluted earnings per share rose to $0.72 from $0.70. DexCom reported free cash flow of $272.7 million, down from $579.4 million a year earlier.

What management said on the call

CEO Jake Leach said DexCom gained U.S. market share across customer segments, with the biggest increase among people with Type 2 diabetes, including those not using insulin. CFO and COO Jereme Sylvain said new customer starts increased from a year earlier, alongside efforts to improve retention and utilization.

Leach said DexCom expects a CMS decision this year on coverage for people with Type 2 diabetes who do not use insulin. He said the company had shared the published CONNECT study with medical directors evaluating Medicare coverage expansion. DexCom also plans to launch G7 15 Day in Canada in November and Japan in early 2027, he said.

Asked about pricing, Sylvain said, “We have not seen significant changes to our pricing environment.” He attributed third-quarter adjusted gross-margin improvement to manufacturing efficiencies, freight and quality management, and the U.S. rollout of G7 15 Day. Leach said DexCom’s Ireland facility had begun commercial production, adding manufacturing capacity.

Analysts also pressed executives on pharmacy benefit manager formularies. Leach said DexCom was “always negotiating for equal access” and plans to launch DexCom Direct early next year to help patients navigate coverage. Sylvain said the pharmacy benefit manager discussed represented less than 4% of U.S. revenue and that he did not expect the formulary change to have much financial impact next year, partly because remuneration would change. He declined to give specific pricing details for competitive reasons.

Sylvain said the Ireland ramp could affect margins into early next year, while a shift toward 15-day products could provide an offset. He also said a signed deal to acquire a European distributor business had not closed and was expected to close next year.

Guidance

DexCom updated its FY2026 revenue outlook to $5.20 to $5.25 billion, representing growth of 12% to 13%. Sylvain said the midpoint includes approximately $5 million of incremental foreign-exchange headwinds since the prior quarter and implies fourth-quarter growth of 10%.

DexCom raised its non-GAAP operating margin outlook to approximately 24%, from 23.5 to 24%, and its adjusted EBITDA margin outlook to approximately 32%, from 31.5% to 32%.
