Latest quarter
Corteva reported Q2 FY2026 revenue of $6.4 billion, below the consensus of $6.6 billion. Adjusted EPS was $2.30, above the consensus of $2.24. Revenue fell from $6.5 billion a year earlier, while diluted EPS declined to $1.73 from $1.92.
The filing attributed the sales decline to lower volumes, partly offset by higher prices and favorable currency movements. It cited timing shifts in North America and Brazil, including a shift from corn to soy acreage in North America. Seed sales were nearly flat, while Crop Protection sales fell as competitive pricing in Latin America and customer purchase timing in North America weighed on results.
Corteva reported gross margin of 57.4%, up from 54.6% a year earlier, and operating margin of 26.2%, down from 28.7%. The filing said lower royalty expense and cost and productivity actions helped reduce the cost of goods sold. Free cash flow was −$587.0 million, compared with $846.0 million a year earlier. For the first half, the filing attributed lower operating cash flow in part to a pension contribution, a Bayer resolution payment and a prepayment for crop protection technology.

What management said on the call
CEO Chuck Magro said farmers continued to pay for seed technology that improves productivity and returns. He pointed to demand for newer genetics and the growing contribution from licensing. CFO David Johnson said seed sales grew organically across every region in the first half, supported by technology demand and increased licensing income.
Johnson said competitive dynamics, particularly in Latin America, continued to pressure crop protection prices. New products helped volumes grow, while productivity improvements and lower input costs contributed to margin expansion. He said improved seed net royalties also reflected both lower royalty expense and higher royalty income.
Asked about crop protection competition, Magro said Brazil was well supplied and that pricing pressure was concentrated in some products, including pre-emergent herbicides. He said Corteva had lowered costs ahead of products losing patent protection. Magro also said the new crop protection portfolio was on course to approach $2 billion in revenue in 2026.
On seed demand in Brazil, seed business executive Judd O’Connor said tight credit and fuel and fertilizer costs were causing some growers to make purchasing decisions closer to planting. He said second-half seed volume would depend partly on when farmers were ready to take delivery in the fourth quarter.
When asked about the split between the coming quarters, Johnson said Corteva expected a third-quarter operating EBITDA loss of around $100 million, with the timing affected in part by separation-related costs. Magro said on the call that the company was targeting October 1 for the separation of Vylor, subject to completing remaining milestones. He said Corteva expected a $25 million headwind in 2026 from the timing of separation activities.
