Latest quarter
Crane reported third-quarter revenue of $754.6 million, above the $738.8 million consensus. Adjusted earnings of $2.05 per share also exceeded the $1.81 consensus. Revenue rose 28.1% from $589.2 million a year earlier.
The filing attributes much of the sales increase to acquisitions, alongside 7.70% core sales growth. It says Aerospace & Advanced Technologies benefited from the Druck acquisition and higher core sales, while Process Flow Technologies grew through acquisitions and higher core sales. Within aerospace, the filing says commercial original-equipment sales increased, while commercial aftermarket sales declined against a prior-year period that included higher initial aircraft provisioning.
Crane reported diluted earnings per share of $1.65, compared with $1.56 a year earlier. Operating margin fell to 18.6% from 20.1%, and gross margin declined to 41.7% from 42.7%. The filing says cost of sales rose with acquisitions and higher material, labor and other manufacturing costs. Crane reported free cash flow of $116.3 million, compared with $116.8 million a year earlier.

What management said on the call
CEO Alejandro Alcala said demand across Aerospace & Advanced Technologies included commercial aircraft, defense and space applications. CFO Richard Maue said the commercial aircraft production ramp and defense demand drove core sales, while military business supported aftermarket sales. Maue put the segment’s backlog at nearly $1.3 billion.
In Process Flow Technologies, Alcala said growth came across cryogenics, power, wastewater, nuclear and general industrial markets. He cited cryogenics wins tied to space launches and pharmaceutical orders related to capacity expansion. Maue said core, currency-neutral orders rose 20.0% from a year earlier and 8.00% sequentially.
Asked about end markets, Alcala said pharmaceutical backlog was growing and that Crane expected further investment in the United States. He added that “chemical continues to be flat” and said the process business no longer depended on a chemical recovery to grow. Alcala described Europe as flat and said the Middle East had recovered from the first half.
Maue attributed higher adjusted operating profit to core sales, acquisitions, productivity and pricing after inflation. He said recent acquisitions diluted margins, while Alcala said their revenue, margins and earnings contribution were ahead of plan. Maue added that Crane repaid $170.0 million of debt during the quarter.
On the announced Building Services and Utilities divestiture, Alcala said the sale completes Crane’s exit from nonresidential construction. Maue said the sale would cause some dilution and that the pending Trillium Pumps acquisition could offset a portion of it; he anticipated a closing near the end of the first quarter. Asked about leverage, Maue said he anticipated a similar core leverage rate in the fourth quarter.
Guidance
Crane raised and narrowed its full-year adjusted earnings outlook to $7.23 to $7.38 per share. Alcala said the company now expects recent acquisitions to contribute approximately $0.30 per share to 2026 earnings, above its previous expectation.
Crane also expects total sales growth of approximately 26.0% at the midpoint, with acquisition and core growth at the high ends of their prior ranges. Its updated outlook calls for an adjusted segment operating margin of approximately 24.0%, above its prior view. Alcala said the Process Flow Technologies outlook had improved, with low-single-digit full-year core growth and continued margin expansion.
