Latest quarter
Box reported Q2 FY2027 revenue of $321.1 million, up from $294.0 million a year earlier. On the consensus comparison measure, revenue was $321.2 million, above the $319.0 million estimate; adjusted earnings per share of $0.40 matched the consensus.
In its filing, Box attributed revenue growth primarily to additional seats at existing customers, net of churn, and continued adoption of its multi-product Suites. Foreign exchange partly offset those gains. The filing also attributed growth in remaining performance obligations, a measure of contracted future revenue, to customer expansion, renewals, longer contracts and new customers.
Gross margin remained at 79.1%, while operating margin rose to 10.2% from 7.00% a year earlier. Box reported non-GAAP free cash flow of $59.7 million and said the increase reflected higher operating cash flow and lower property and equipment purchases, partly offset by higher capitalized software costs.

What management said on the call
CEO Aaron Levie said adoption of Enterprise Advanced helped drive the quarter, while price-per-seat increases and seat expansion contributed to net retention. CFO Dylan Smith said customers paying at least $100,000 annually grew, and that Suites customers accounted for a greater share of revenue than a year earlier. Smith also said Enterprise Advanced customers’ net retention exceeded Box’s overall rate.
Levie described an investment bank upgrading to Enterprise Advanced as it moved legacy file servers to Box. He also said a federal agency upgraded and expanded its seats as it replaced older contract-management and collaboration systems. Smith said cross-departmental workflows can bring more employees onto Box, contributing to seat expansion.
On AI demand, Levie said customers increasingly want to run agents across large collections of documents. He said Box’s model-neutral approach lets customers select models for the accuracy and cost required by a particular task. In the Q&A, Levie said customers were contacting Box about migrating content from legacy systems so agents could access it securely.
Addressing agent security, Levie said enterprises need new guardrails, monitoring and alerts because agents can process large amounts of information or access the wrong data. He said Box plans to extend its security features and build identity controls.
Asked about gross-margin pressures, Smith pointed to growing use of Box’s platform and AI, as well as limited access to some public cloud infrastructure components. He said those constraints affected the efficiency improvements Box expected to deliver this year. Looking ahead, Smith said second-half expenses would be weighted more toward the fourth quarter than usual because of BoxWorks and a headquarters lease extension. He also said quarterly billings can vary with foreign exchange and comparisons with earlier periods.
Guidance
Smith said Box raised its FY2027 revenue outlook, citing demand for Box AI and adoption of Enterprise Advanced. He now expects non-GAAP EPS of approximately $1.54, compared with the earlier expectation of $1.56; he said currency and share-count movements affected the comparison.
Smith expects full-year non-GAAP gross margin of approximately 80.5%, compared with the earlier range of 81.0% to 81.5%.
